Donald Trump says Republicans have a problem that is ‘very, very, very serious’.
The President was speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Thursday, when host Joe Scarborough asked Trump about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and the 2020 election.
The President responded by saying, ‘You know, I don’t think there’s a great deal of unity between Democrats and Republicans’.
Trump added that Republicans are ‘very divided’, and ‘very bitter’ about the election results.’
There’s a real divide,’ Trump said.
‘It’s very, not a great number of Republicans that are Democrats, it’s very divided, and that’s very bad for America.”
But the Democrats are the enemy of that,’ Trump continued.’
They’re the enemy.
They’re the people that want to take our country back.
And we’re going to make them pay for it.’
The President went on to say that Republicans had ‘a big problem’ with the Democratic Party, and ‘the Democrats have a very, small problem’.’
They don’t want to go to the convention, they don’t like it.
They don’t have a lot of respect for the party that’s elected in their state,’ Trump added.
The comments come after Trump and his allies in the Republican Party were forced to issue a statement on Friday saying that ‘the election results are a major reason why we are now facing a national emergency’.’
The results of this election are now clear: Donald Trump lost the popular vote and won the Electoral College,’ Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel wrote in a statement.’
In a very real sense, this result proves that Donald Trump and the Republican party are not fit to lead the United States.
And this is a message to the American public that we are not the party of the people, we are the party with the people in mind.’
Trump is also set to meet with former Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday.
Trump has repeatedly claimed that he won the popular and electoral vote, despite losing the electoral college to Clinton, in the presidential election.
He also suggested he would not accept the outcome of the election if he lost the presidency.’
If I win, I am going to accept the result,’ Trump told reporters in the Rose Garden of the White House on January 3.
‘I am not going to let it affect my life or my family.”
The result is a national disaster.
There’s nothing that I can do about it,’ he said in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity on December 15.
‘This is a terrible thing.
This is a disgrace, this is the worst thing that has happened in the history of our country.
It’s not fair.
We are going to get it fixed.’
Trump’s statements come as the Whitehouse has announced that it will begin implementing President-elect Donald Trump’s transition and inauguration schedule, which will begin in January.
